Miniaturized '87 Jem 777 for $630 shipped

"So I bought it because it's a miniaturized representation of the 1987 (First year) Ibanez Jem 777 in shocking pink. Those guitars are through the roof expensive now because of nostalgic collector value. Yes I know the pyramid inlays are reverse of the real Jem but better safe then get sued by Ibanez. The paint and colors are flawless. There are no buzzes on the neck despite the neck relief being dead flat at . 000". I am happy it comes with a Floyd 1000 and not the Special so you don't have to worry about the knife edges wearing out. It is a little neck heavy due to the body being so small which is a trade off for portability. This wouldn't be an issue if the body had the top horn and just make it like a wing style guitar. Steinberger headless guitars don't have this problem but you can't dive bomb a Steinberger like you can with a Floyd because it will ruin the trem (I just rebuilt one). My only real constructive criticism as a former setup tech and at Schecter Guitar Research would be to round the fret ends with a corner dressing file and really polish the frets good. The fret ends are not sharp, don't get me wrong but nothing feels better than rounded. At the next string change I'll do that myself. Upon delivery the fretboard didn't feel fast so I sprayed it with GHS fast fret and that did the trick. Do this if you buy one as it makes all the difference in the world and won't harm the maple fretboard. I'm a guy who's been copying the padded Ibanez PIA trem arms by putting 3 layers of heat shrink tubing on the bar. That really makes the trem arm soft on your hands like butter. I am planning on putting strap locks on at the next string change because I'll have to remove one of the screws on the neck to do so. The best choice for locks would be the Ernie Ball style as the Schaller type would dig into your belly with the strap button being held on by the neck screw. The Vaibrant pickups sound better than my real Jem junior. Traveler did a great job on this guitar and they seem like really nice people. I appreciated the 10% discount and the fact it comes with a nice gig bag with hot pink lining like the real Jem 777's did. As a player of 42 years, repair tech of 20 years, I do enjoy the lesser known electrics. You can see I also own a Mooer GTRS W900 and a Hohner G3T from the late 80's. As an Entertainer tour bus driver for A-list musicians like AC/DC, KISS, Journey, Def Leopard, Foreigner, Deep Purple, Hans Zimmer, Lorde, Shania Twain, The Lumineers etc. I may take this on the road in the future. I would like to be featured as one of the Traveler's official artists as my former band has been on the radio in the past and I have noticed some of the artists are tennis players or actors etc. Doing so could get the company more exposure to Stadium level bands. Thanks for reading this, Daniel Yarger (Guitarist of 42 years, Entertainer bus driver & Guitar tech)"

This thing is AMAZING. Not

"This thing is AMAZING. Not a huge fan of the green, but it is what it is. Aside from that matter of personal preference, an incredible piece of hardware."

Karl M. (5/5)

Excellent guitar at any price point. .

"I wanted a guitar to travel to clients with for nighttime hotel playing. This guitar is very comparable to my Ibanez guitars in feel and function. Pickups are surprisingly good and the FR1000 is awesome. The neck is prestige like and the fit and finish was excellent. I got the action to 1,0mm and 0,8mm with no issues. Unreal how pleasant this is to play. Highly recommend it."

Love this guitar

"Bought this guitar for my wife, she wanted a light weight practice guitar with lots of features. She loves the guitar"

JONATHON B. (5/5)

World’s best travel guitar, bar none!

"I absolutely love this guitar. I’ve owned several travel guitars over the years because of frequent business travel, but none of them played particularly well. When I first saw this one on display at Tokyo’s Guitar Street, it was love at first sight. It perfectly matches my Ibanez UV-7, which has been my main guitar for over 30 years. It plays great and sounds phenomenal! I cannot imagine a better travel guitar. The only downside is the case. The strap broke on my first trip, but that is the case and not guitar (rated them separately). Regardless, what a great guitar!"

Shawn H. (5/5)

Fabulous!

"I bought this for my Musician husband for Christmas 2022. He was flabbergasted! His favorite guitar to date!"

Jene M. (5/5)

Great!!!

"Love the neck - pick ups - Floyd rose. Color. Thanks !"

Oscar E. (5/5)

Wow, pleasantly surprised!

"I just got mine today and plugged it in immediately - it's immediately playable and immediately enjoyable. I also own the name brand this is modeled after, so I'm familiar with the inspiration behind this guitar. Knowing that, I'm really glad with my purchase. The neck is a little chunkier but I've been playing a lot of other guitars with thicker necks than my Jem so I don't mind it all. I need to give it a slight setup with strings I'm more accustomed to, but I'm in no rush because out of the box the setup is pretty good. Well done!"

Needs adjustments

"Needed complete setup of the guitar and Floyd Rose system"

Anton B. (4/5)

Bought it for the convenient, love it for its excellence!

"I wanted a guitar to play around the house that was small (to not be in the way too much) but high quality (not a gimmick or a toy). WOW! This guitar not only is easy to play and is small, it's efficiently built so that nothing is lost with the compact style - it has 24 frets and the intonation is wonderful! - and it plays and sounds great! I even bought a B-stock guitar (with blemishes in the finish, I guess) but I can't even see what caused it to be classified that way. I'm going to play this at family parties this Christmas/holiday season. I will likely buy a bass soon, too, because I am so impressed. Thanks, Traveler, for making such a great instrument!"
